Turf-Type Tall Fescue

Certified 'Tifway' bermudagrass and Non-Certified Bermudagrass

'Tifway' 419 bermudagrass  was developed at The University of Georgia's Coastal Plains Experiment Station in Tifton by Dr. Glenn Burton and his team. It was released into production in the 1960's and has been the most popular hybrid bermudagrass cultivar ever since. 'Tifway' has been the turfgrass choice for more sports fields and golf coarse fairways than all other cultivars combined. It's still used at The University of Georgia's Dooley Field at Sanford Stadium as well as many other college and pro facilities around the world. Like all bermudagrasses, 'Tifway' needs full sun and regular applications of nitrogen fertilizer to thrive. Once established, it makes a very durable, wear resistant warm-season turfgrass. Many times, 'Tifway' is overseeded with perennial ryegrass for year round color.  Propagation is by vegetative means as 'Tifway' is a sterile hybrid that does not produce viable seed. 'Tifway' is best maintained with a reel-type mower.  We are members of The Georgia Crop Improvement Association and proudly produce GCIA certified Blue Tag 'Tifway' bermudagrass.

As a lower cost alternative, we do offer non-certified bermudagrass for sale. This is a turfgrass crop that has been grown from 'Tifway' sprigs but has not been in the certification program and may contain genetic off-types. Where genetic purity is desired, always choose GCIA certified Blue Tag 'Tifway'.

'Meyer' Zoysiagrass

'Meyer', or Z-52 zoysiagrass, was released by the USDA and the U.S. Golf Association Greens Section in the early 1950's. It has  beautiful blue-green foliage that responds very well to iron rich fertilizers with moderate to low levels of nitrogen. 'Meyer' is a slow to medium grower and is normally maintained with a rotary mower due to it's thick habit, although it will tolerate reel mowers once acclimated to the right mow height. It grows best in full sun but will tolerate light shade in some areas. 'Meyer' is considered the most cold hardy of all the zoysiagrass cultivars. It is used in golf on tee boxes, bunkers and occasionally fairways. Use as a primary home/multi-family or commercial property lawn is also very popular. Drought resistant once established,

Turf-Type Tall Fescue

As our primary cool season grass, Tall Fescue performs well in zone 7, Metro Atlanta, and points north. It requires overseeding every year to stay thick and lush. Tall Fescue is maintained with rotary mowers. The great advantage of Tall Fescue, were it can be succesfully grown, is its partial shade tolerence and it's year round leaf color. It is subject to disease stress in the summer in the north Georgia area so good cultural practices are a must for optimum results.
